What is going on in your neighborhood?

On September 17th , 18th, and 19th, my neighborhood has its annual celebration called Millvale Days.  Saturday morning is the parade, but there are events all weekend and it has a similar atmosphere to a street fair.  Check out their website for more information!www.millvalepa.com/Millvale-Days.aspx

accessibility

Have you attended this Shannon?  If so is it pretty accessible to someone in a wheelchair?  Is the parade worth dragging my two kids, ages 11 and 13, to (of course it is really for me to see the parade, the kids are just an excuse!!!)  Thanks for any info.......

Farmers' Markets a great resource for anyone

I think this is a great topic to comment on!
I believe that a healthy community has lots of activities and one of the ways to see a healthy community is if there is a farmers' market. They offer you the chance to get great deals on freshly harvested food and to mingle with community members. Pittsburgh is lucky to have such a large amount of farmers' markets on various days. There was a great article from the Post Gazette earlier this year that has an interactive map with it so that you can find a farmers' market close to you. http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/09134/969805-34.stm
I personally go to the Original Night Market out in the Cecil/Bridgeville area. It is a bit further than the market that is right near my house - but the deals are even better. Plus they have a shelter over the market so if the weather is too hot in the middle of the summer you have some shade and it protects you from the fall winds later in the season. Last year I was going there up until Thanksgiving!
