On Monday, January 18, 2010, Centre Services celebrated the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King.

Last year following the inauguration of President Obama, the President and Vice-President had urged all Americans to participate in some type of service activity to celebrate the life and work of Dr. King. The Centre, for the second year in a row, honored Dr. King's memory by offering everyone to participate in a service activity for the day. The Centre hosted its second annual food drive to benefit the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank. Enough food was collected to almost fill 10 boxes with non-perishable food items. When the food was turned over to the Food Bank, the staff and participants of UCP/CLASS had donated 120 pounds of food.

In the afternoon, participants and staff viewed a presentation created by Chatham University Students Heather Gilermini and Kandace Ashe. Their power point presentation discussed the many accomplishments of Dr. King's life, as well as some of the highlights of his career.

The Centre would like to thank everyone who pitched in and donated food, it was a kind and generous act on your part. Thank you Kandace and Heather for their hard work on the power point presentation.
