Are You Feeling Lucky?

On December 9, 2009, UCP/CLASS partnered with National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) at the University of Pittsburgh for the 4th Annual Monte Carlo night at the William Pitt Student Union. Roughly 45 high rollers gathered for an evening of high stakes gambling including games of 21, Craps, Texas Hold'em poker, and Roulette. Each participant was given Thousands of dollars were being won and lost at the roll of the dice or the draw of a card.

When they arrived, each person was given a voucher worth $10,000. If they lost all their money, they could ask for another coupon to get more money. Players were then able to go to the dealer of their choice to receive their money. For every $5,000, people were given one ticket for the drawing. At the end of the evening, everyone cashed in their winnings for chances to win many different prizes. It was a night of good friendship, food, and fun. Thank you to Bill McDowell and Jack Snook of UCP/CLASS and Eric Birzon of the NSCS for their work with organizing the event, getting the prizes, and creating partnerships for people to play with. Also thank you to all the UCP/CLASS staff who volunteered to be dealers.

This is not the only time UCP/CLASS partners with the NSCS for an event. In the spring, UCP/CLASS and members of the NSCS converge at the William Pitt Union to challenge each other to several games of boccia. While this was only our fourth annual Monte Carlo Night, this spring will mark the 8th Annual Boccia Tournament.

Everyone had a great time and we hope to see you in the spring for Boccia.
