Computer Class

Starting this semester, I have been attending a computer class every Tuesday with Bill M.  So far, I have really enjoyed this class. Although I cannot use my hands to help me navigate the system, I have an assistant who helps me use the computer. Bill has taught me and the rest of the class how to use different programs on the computer, as well as how to print documents. The other day the class and I learned how to look up information on the internet. I decided to look up facts on the Americans with Disabilities Act or the ADA.

The New Year

Now I know Christmas has yet to arrive, but I can’t help but to think of the New Year with all of its fun festivities, like eating sauerkraut, Kabassi,  and mashed potatoes, and making resolutions. While sometimes it’s hard to get out for New Year’s Eve, I always make the effort to have fun. This year I hope to see the new Muppets movie out in theaters with my family. I’m not sure if it’s possible for my family to drive all the way to Pittsburgh to visit me, but either way, I plan on enjoying the New Year with people I care about.

Christmas is around the Corner

With Christmas right around corner, I can’t help but to get excited about the upcoming Christmas party that my house throws. Although my roommates and I haven’t decorated yet, this weekend we plan on putting up the Christmas tree. Our Christmas tree is small and it lights up. One really cool aspect about our tree is that it rotates—allowing everyone to see all of the ornaments hung up.

Memorial Services

Today at UCP/CLASS, a memorial service was held for Darryl, one of my close friends. When Darryl came to UCP, he always had a smile on his face. He was kind to everyone and had a positive attitude, despite some of his life circumstances. Darryl loved all sports, especially football. His favorite football team was the Pittsburgh Steelers.

For almost a year now, UCP/CLASS has been in the process of renovating a new building about 5 miles away from the Community Service Centre, that I currently am based at every day. Now that the packing boxes are in the offices to start filling, it has brought on a mix of emotions that are part exciting and part scary.
