Pennsylvania Lifespan Respite Care Summit
Monday, March 22, 2010
Temple University Harrisburg, 234 Strawberry Square, Harrisburg
The purpose of the Lifespan Respite Summit is to provide technical assistance through a one-day on-site statewide stakeholders meeting to develop a collaborative working relationship among participating groups in applying for a federal Lifespan Respite Grant. Most importantly, the goal will be to maintain this collaboration when following through with the planning and implementation of a statewide Lifespan Respite system based on best practices.
Jill Kagan, MPH, Chair of the National Respite Coalition, will facilitate discussions aimed at helping Pennsylvania establish its readiness to apply for federal lifespan respite funding.
The Summit will be a working meeting.
The goals of the day are:
· Construct collaborative relationships and build a bridge for communications between the Aging and Disability Resource Centers (ADRCs), state programs, providers and the PA Lifespan Respite Coalition;
· Deepen understanding and clarify any questions related to the Federal Lifespan Respite Act and funding application process;
· Ready PA to be a viable candidate in the application for Federal Lifespan Respite funding.
· Provide a strategic focus for Pennsylvania's lifespan respite effort.
Registration information will be following soon.
We are asking if organizations and groups may be able to assist in underwriting the cost of the coffee breaks and lunch. We realize that no one organization may be able to shoulder the cost. HOWEVER, several organizations contributing $50, $100 or$ 200 each could go a long way towards making this event a success.
The summit is sponsored by:
Temple University Institute on Disabilities
ARCH National Respite Network & Resource Center
The Family Caregiver Alliance
The Administration on Aging
The Pennsylvania Lifespan Respite Coalition
