UCP Kids presents the 5th Annual Movie Night featuring The Black Balloon.
The Black Balloon is an award-winning dramatic comedy that explores family dynamics when disability is present. Not only is Thomas about to turn 16 and having to adjust to a brand new neighborhood after a family move, but he's also trying to cope with helping to care for his brother Charlie who has profound autism and attention deficit disorder. Charlie's unusual and sometimes extreme antics take Thomas on an emotional journey that cause his pent-up frustrations about his brother to pour out, which in turn allows him to reconnect with Charlie in ways he never thought possible.
Come and join us for the screening of this emotional, sometimes surprising, and thought-provoking film followed by a discussion on family interactions, sibling issues, caregiving, and more.
