Consumer Employer Resources

UCP/CLASS is an approved Fiscal Employer Agent providing Consumer Financial Management Services.

UCP/CLASS proudly offers Consumer Employer Resource Services to assist eligible individuals in using Self-Directed Services for their personal care needs. Individuals are eligible to become a Consumer Employer through the UCP/CLASS Consumer Employer Resource Department if they are 18 years of age or older, live in their own homes, and would like to select and hire their own Direct Care workers.

Self-Directed Services, also called Participant-Directed Services, means that the consumer has decided to become a Consumer Employer so they are able to directly hire who will provide some or all of the supports and services authorized in their Individual Support Plan (ISP).*

UCP/CLASS acts as the fiscal agent that helps the consumer manage their supports and services; and also helps manage the employment process for the consumer.

UCP/CLASS offers Consumer Employer Resource services for eligible individuals who are in the Attendant Care Program. UCP/CLASS helps the Consumer Employer:

• Provide Orientation and Training for the Consumer and their Direct-Care workers
• Apply for Federal and State Tax Employer I.D. Numbers
• Process Payroll for Direct Care workers; Complete Year-End Employer Federal, State, and Local Tax Reporting
• Manage Direct-Care Workers Unemployment and Workers’ Compensation Claims
• Serve as a Connection to Resources for Both the Consumer and the Worker
