“My family participated in the UCP Kids program when my child, Zachary, wanted to get involved in community soccer and Kinder Kinetics. Through the help and guidance of a UCP Kids Community Partner, we were supported throughout this activity, from the registration process to the actual games/practices, and even after the activity finished. UCP Kids provided feedback not only to us on helping our child become a valued member of the group, but to the recreation provider as well. We knew that our child had so much to offer a group of peers, and community members were more accepting of him because of the education and support provided by UCP Kids. With UCP Kids’ help the coaches understood how to work with him and include him in activities. This allowed him to feel confident and accepted by his team mates. Thanks to the tools and resources that UCP Kids equipped us with, my child and my family are confident when joining recreation programs, and we continue to participate in community activities. Everyone in our family has benefited from this program.”
“Participating in UCP Kids was a positive experience for me and my family. My son Vincent has always been interested in art, but we had never done anything in the community before. UCP Kids helped us get enrolled in an art class. Vincent was able to go places he’d never been before! Everyone at the art class was very welcoming and Vincent made a couple of friends there. He was a different kid when he was going to art class and I got to use the time to do something for me. Without UCP Kids, I wouldn’t know where to take my son to do things he’s interested in. Working with UCP Kids is a great opportunity for any child to meet and interact with other kids.”
“I’ve always had an inclusive attitude for my recreation center, but working with UCP Kids gave me new ideas on how to ensure that my facility is a fun place for all children. UCP Kids staff worked with me on modifications and even wording on my advertising to let others know that I welcome all children. As a result, I have been able to accommodate children of all abilities and have really seen the kids – and the parents – flourish! I am so appreciative of UCP Kids programs and their knowledge of ways to create fun places that all children can enjoy. “
“We at the Kinder Kinetics Program are thankful for the manner in which UCP Kids continues to help us provide opportunities for all children in the community to participate in our physical activity classes. We are thankful that UCP Kids staff is eager to learn and share our knowledge and experience. We are also grateful for UCP Kids as teachers. We can pay attention and learn from the children; they enhance our spirit, and direct us to new heights.”
Thanks again to all the kids, families and recreation providers with whom we’ve been so fortunate to connect. Happy holidays!
